Volunteers Needed

What: Mayor Turner's Health Equity Response Task Force Distribution Event
When: Saturday, August 22, 2020,
Volunteers are requested to arrive at 7:30 a.m. to ensure that everyone gets checked in and in position for a punctual 9:00 a.m. start. The event will end at 11:00 a.m.

The goal of the Medical Care Subcommittee of the Health Equity Recovery Task Force is to provide essential medical information to Houston’s highest risk communities to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and address critical medical needs. We are partnering with community-based organizations to co-sponsor, support, and promote outreach events in areas serving these communities.
Distribution Items
Food, milk, masks and COVID-19 and preventative medical educational materials will be distributed. The estimated number of family food packages for distribution is 1000 - 2000.
Invited Guests
Invited guests are Congressman Al Green, State Rep Hubert Vo, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Councilwoman Tiffany Thomas, Councilman Edward Pollard, and other local officials and community leaders.
Volunteer Information
Having an adequate number of volunteers on the day of the event is critical; if we are to be efficient. Please let us know if you have volunteers that could be available to participate in the distribution event. Notre Dame Parrish and the H.E.R. Task Force subcommittee members will also provide volunteers.
Volunteers will serve in the following areas/tented stations:
(1) Distribution Set-up
(2) Volunteer Registration/Check-In
(3) Food, Milk, Mask and Educational Material Distribution Stations (4) Traffic Control on the Property. HPD officers will control street traffic.
(5) Clean-up and Breakdown
Attire/Dress
It is projected to be another hot day in July; so everyone should dress accordingly and wear sunscreen.

Restrooms and Drinks
Restrooms will be available and drinks will be provided for the volunteers.
Mandatory Requirement
Wearing a mask is mandatory and socially distancing is strongly encouraged.
Masks will be provided on site.
Pending is a call center on the day of the event for the residents to ask COVID-19 related and medical questions. We would like to have culturally competent physicians and other healthcare providers available to man the call center. We will keep you posted on this.
